Do Make They ThinkTo me the most amazing thing about bands from the Constellation family like Do Make Say Think isn't so much the music, but the world which they've constructed around themselves filled with friends and wintery ideas and made their own with great success. Since the late 90s when Godspeed You! Black Emperor and adjacent bands started their ascent many many bands have emulated them, outright copied them, took what they made and watered it down to intolerability, to the point that most of this kind of post-rock instrumental music has begun to feel sterile, old and those slowly rising scale progressions seem like as simple a trick as a delay pedal. But what will always set Do Make Say Think, Godspeed and family apart is not just the notes they play, but what they seem to bring to the table as people and as a self-sufficient community. They have an undoubted out-right love for what they do, for the quiet war they fight, for some intangible binding vestige that they've struck like gold within themselves and their friends. This kind of sincerity and will always shines through, and may they continue to slowly tear down walls and erect their ice sculptures in the forgotten corners of parks and still forests wherever they tread. :: Do Make They Think: You, You Are A History In Rust - Constellation/Alive
